I have been selected to exhibit my piece titled "The Dawn" in the Black Creativity Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry!This is the second year that I will be participating in this exhibit and I'm VERY excited to be amongst several Talented Artist in this exhibit.Display of Beautiful and Original works will begin January 25th through February 29th.

Examiner Text Line Text Line Text Line Text Line Text Line Text Line The Chicago art event of the year: the Gold Coast Art Fair - Article Written By Kimberly Hansel (2010)August 27th, 2010 1:32 pm CTThe most imperious and esteemed art show in Chicago, the Gold Coast Art Fair, was downtown last weekend near Millennium Park on the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Monroe Street. This festival boasts a huge 450 juried artist list, with an incredibly high attendance resulting in a scant walkway that made attendees feel that they were a herd of cattle traveling across a not-so-open pasture. However, this event is worth attending regardless of the discernible space issues; this is where you will see an abundant display of innovative intersections of mediums, as well as rare art forms seldom seen before. Artists come from all over the world; even our neighbors in South America attend this festival. Marisa Isabel Rufino, who currently resides in Argentina, came to sell her art in Chicago. For the second summer in a row, Marisa has sold art all across the United States, in Michigan, Utah, Minnesota, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Illinois. She has been painting since the age of fifteen and studied Joaquín Torres Garcia in a college in Argentina. “I live art,” she says. Marisa’s work is a brilliant, structured arrangement of modeling paste, oil paints, and well-balanced color patterns. Her art is hypnotizing and astonishingly beautiful and is sure to supersede a tired painting on your wall and create a masterpiece that will reinvent how art is seen in your home. Americans love her and she has won several awards and sold a copious collection of paintings since she donned the hat of the starving artist twenty years ago and counting (Look below for pictures pertaining to this artist). Another painter who stopped the crowd was Yolanda Franklin, who has painted for five years as a hobby. If this young lady were to take her hobby and go heart-and-soul into it, who knows what might lie ahead for her? Her technique utilizes a one-of-a-kind mixture of a pouring medium with acrylic paint, and she gently persuades the amalgam across glass or Plexiglas, merging colors together in a fashion in which movement is captured momentarily within the painting. It is almost like watching a demonstration of an attempt to mix oil and water intertwined with vibrant colors. Her unquestionably unique method is to simply decant the blend of paint and pouring medium in a manner that forms a visually appealing piece, with the correct hue and saturation of color. Her work captures your eye and coerces it to weave around the intricate use of color, space, and motion-filled art. Her inspiration came from Eric Lee (examples of his work), an exceptional back-painted glass artist, who inspired her to start painting with glass. Her hard work and dedication have paid off and her art has been revealed in the book Creative Glass by Danijela Kracun and Charles McFadden, as well as on CLTV.

"Chicagoing" ABC Channel 7 with Bill Campbell - 2007 August 9, 2007 I was blessed with an awesome opportunity to appear on "Chicagoing" with Bill Campbell!! The show was about average hard working women, mothers and wives pursuing their dreams. The topic of the show was "Follow Your Dream" and I was honored to share the spotlight with Ingrid (Wish You Tee's), Elaine (Ashby Tea) and sensational singer Shannon Wright. The show was taped on August 9, 2007 (My Anniversary:-) and aired August 18, 2007 on ABC. This experience came about Thanks to Frances, who is also a hardworking woman, mother and wife while pursuing her dream as a producer. During her internship at ABC, Channel 7, Frances decided to use the opportunity to allow women to share the importance of women pursuing their dreams.
